A Basic Guide To Electrical Terms

Thanks to Don Vandervort for this helpful quick guide of electrical terms! We know our readers could benefit from this—so we knew we had to share it!

Volt—Don compared this to water pouring from a faucet which we thought was a great analogy. Basically this is what the flow of electricity is measured in.

Ampere—The amount of current that moves through a wire in a second. (The larger the wire the more amperes)

Watt—Shows how much electricity is used in a second. (Figured by multiplying the volts by amps)

Conductor—Any material that lets electricity pass through it (hence the name!)\
